The Pearable-What a Bucket of Fruit Taught Me About Life Part 2

Today I am bringing you the continuation of a true story I call, “The Pearable-Or What a Bucket of Fruit Taught Me About Life”.  If you have missed the first part of the story, part 2 may not make as much sense.  You can click HERE to read part 1.   Arm in Arm we set out at dusk (Matt & I) that crisp October eve, with the exuberance of children going door to door at Halloween asking for candy.  Only we weren’t the ones receiving.  We were the literal bearers of fruit…a bucket of fruit, that is.   It was like a grown up version of trick or treating-this random act of kindness we were about to do.   We knocked on various doors with our bucket of freshly … Continue Reading

The Glad Game-A Thanksgiving Gift Giveaway!

Thanksgiving is almost here, and to celebrate I have created another giveaway game for you!  You could win TWO free gifts that you can keep for yourself or give to someone for Christmas!    The game I have created is called the “Glad Game” and is based around gratitude.  Have you ever seen the old Disney movie “Polyanna”?  My inspiration for this game came from that movie.  The character Polyanna (played by Hayley Mills)  , plays the “glad game” in the movie by focusing on all there is to be glad about in life.  Her sunny attitude eventually starts to make a difference in the lives of those around her, even warming the hearts of a grumpy old recluse and another elderly lady who worries about her health all of … Continue Reading

The Wings of Belief-A Whimsical Poem & a Childhood Story

It’s time for my poetry in five with the Five Minute Friday community!  I am a day behind, as I have company here at the cottage and am super busy.  This week’s magic word is “FLY”.  I have a little childhood story on “flying” to share with you, followed by the whimsical poem I wrote!  Won’t you lighten your spirit and indulge in a little childlike glee with me today?  (there is a message in this poem for our adult selves too 😉 )         When I was a child I used to almost believe I could fly.  Did you ever feel that way when you were small?  Children are so amazing in their ability to BELIEVE in possibility.  That is what made childhood so fun!  It was like … Continue Reading

Taking Time to Rest-My Simple 4 Step Relaxation Method

It’s time for another tip of the week (if you’d like to read more of my helpful tips, click HERE for those archives)! Today’s Topic of Inspiration is Rest.  REST. Ahhhhhhhhh.  Do any of you need a little of that today?  We live in a world that is so hurried.  There is so much information out there.  So much social media.  So much to keep up with.  We all need a day of rest.  We all wear so many hats : Wife, Husband, Mother, Father, Teacher, Caretaker, Employee, Friend, etc.  Even God took a day of rest.   Something that we often forget in this fast paced modern world, is that we were created to rest. Here are some of the ways the dictionary defines Rest: To cease work or movement … Continue Reading

The Pearable-or What a Bucket of Fruit Taught Me About Life

Who knew that my latest inspiration would come from a bucket of fruit?  (This is what I am talking about when I say “living inspired” guys..there is SO much inspiration around us.)  Seemingly mundane, everyday life can provide Life Lessons. Wisdom. Truth.  AND a sense of Fun.  We just have to Open our eyes, our hearts, and Awaken our senses.  There is a story to tell in every day life.  YOU have a story.  I have a story.  And-today a piece of fruit has a story.  😀  I call this story “The Pearable.”  (a special thanks to a woman in my writing class named Violet Harlow for thinking of this brilliant pun when I was recalling this story to her as a regular parable).       If you read my last … Continue Reading

The Halloween Fairy Poem

I’ve written a fun little Halloween inspired piece for you today!  This is another addition to the children’s fairy poetry book I have decided to create.  If you ever have random weird stuff happen to you, or you feel like you must be on the show “Candid Camera” or something, it may just be that the Halloween Fairy is pranking you!  She mostly likes to prank around Halloween time, but she has been known to create mischief for people on other days as well (especially if she has had too much sugar :D)!   You may even relate to the little Halloween fairy a bit.  ;).  Believe it or not I do! I am really good most of the time, but I have been known to have a little glint … Continue Reading

Attitude and How it Impacts Our Lives

Attitude Quote by Chuck Swindoll

” The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.”   “Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our … Continue Reading

Teamwork and Why it is Essential For Happy Relationships

Helen Keller Quotes

” Alone we can do so little ; Together we can do so much. ” -Helen Keller     Today I am inspired to talk about the importance of teamwork.  Ironically what inspired me was the article I posted yesterday about where Matt and I got this great patio furniture that we have been enjoying all Summer.  We are enjoying this patio set because of team work.   The patio furniture came in parts.  There were 6 chairs, and each chair had to have the arms bolted on with washers, bolts, and rubber caps.  The table had to have the entire bottom portion put together as well.   Not that it was so hard to do, but being that it is a large and fairly heavy set, it took quite … Continue Reading

Liking What We Have with Childlike Enthusiasm-Gratitude Lessons From a Child

I Can Do Anything Good-weliveinspired.com

Let’s start the new week out with some motivation!  You’ve heard me mention how I have collected an “arsenal of inspiring things” over the past 14 years (which eventually led to the creation of this site).  One of those things is a YouTube video I came across a few years ago.  You may have already seen it somewhere.  It’s a video of a little girl named Jessica shouting out positive affirmations in a spunky, enthusiastic way.  Affirmations aside, this really is a video that speaks volumes about gratitude.  We should all only have this much enthusiasm for the blessings we have in our lives.   In the video she is standing on the bathroom sink looking in to the mirror while declaring all of the things she likes in her … Continue Reading
