My Background as an Artist: The Early Years

Hello Inspired Friends! I’m back today with part 3 of my story in reclaiming my life as an artist. If you missed the whole story and want to catch up, Part 1 (which talks about my “brave” decision to reclaim my artist self) can be found HERE , and Part 2 (on my background as a writer) can be found HERE.  Today I am sharing my story about my journey towards becoming an artist (painting).  I’ve found that sometimes looking back over your life, and going WAY back to the beginning, can be really helpful on the path of self discovery.  It has helped me gain clarity about where I want to go in life.  I want to get back to my roots and embody all I am and all … Continue Reading

Your Best is Always Good Enough, Even When it Feels Like it Isn’t

Feeling “good enough” and doing my best. This is a topic I have thought about (and sometimes struggled with ) a lot in my first year of marriage. I know I am not the only new wife, or old wife, or woman or person period who has ever felt this way.  Yet sometimes I do feel alone in this and compare myself to others and feel I sometimes fall short. Other days I feel pretty much like a rock star for what I accomplish 🙂 . I am a bit of a late bloomer and so I have had to be gentle on myself my first year of marriage, which at times is easy and at times is not.  The times it is not it is because I am worrying … Continue Reading

Reclaiming Myself as an Artist Part 2: My Background as a Writer

If you’ve ever wanted to get to know me better, come on in and read today’s post! I’m going way back to the beginning of my life to share a big creative piece of the puzzle (in a summary) of my journey towards becoming an artist and writer.   (If you missed part 1 that talks about my decision to reclaim my life as an artist, click HERE to catch up).  As I’ve mentioned here before, creativity and I go WAY back.  When I was going through the contents of my life several years ago, I found so much “evidence” of me claiming myself as an artist and wanting to be THAT when I grew up. (On a side note I also wanted to be a teacher, which I get to … Continue Reading

A Wild Turkey Stuck in My Garden (aka The Turkey Who Forgot He Had Wings)!

wild turkey

It’s story time and tonight I am telling you the tale of the turkey who forgot he had wings.  I’m feeling a bit like Beatrix Potter as I say that (writing a tale about an animal in my garden).  Maybe this will become a children’s book of mine.  Who knows?! At any rate, it was funny and inspiring and very, very odd.  And you know, everything has a story.  Maybe you will be inspired to see things a different way in your own life and spin a yarn or two :D. So on we go then!     Earlier this afternoon I heard my pug puppy barking outside and I couldn’t figure out why.  He is not one to carry on about things unless there is something to carry on … Continue Reading

Reclaiming Myself as an Artist: Where I’m Headed in 2016 Part 1

mosaic tile fun

Since I’ve been so busy behind the scenes and a bit MIA here on the blog, I promised in the last post I would share what continues to keep me busy in 2016.  If you missed the details of my life from 2015, you can click HERE to catch up :).  My theme for this year seems to be to create Create CREATE!   As you read last post, I had already started moving towards my own creative business the past 2 years with graphic design jobs here and there, teaching workshops from home, etc. but my “work” life and main income prior to that has been with Melaleuca (the wellness company) since 2008.  Before that I sold Avon for 8 years.  I did these things initially because I was … Continue Reading

What I Did in 2015 (A Document of My Life)

Hello Inspired Readers!   Here I go again being MIA on the blog 🙁 .  2015 and now going in to 2016 is full of tons of NEW for me.  I haven’t gone anywhere, I am not abandoning this blog.  I do apologize for posting less in the past year than I used to.  There is a reason for that and it has to do with putting together all the pieces of who I am and what I want to give to the world.  I am working diligently behind the scenes on getting these pieces put together so I can share it all with you, while still adjusting to the first year of being a wife and living in my own home with my man.  I am quirky in that … Continue Reading

Entertaining a Teenager- My First Christmas as an Aunt

I can remember feeling both worried and super excited about all the changes that occurred in 2015.  One of these was becoming an aunt (officially) and wondering what teenagers (more specifically college students) these days deem as “fun”.  I’m laughing at myself because I realize how “old” that sounds.  (She says in granny voice, “What are these teenagers up to these days?!!).  Criminey to Pete- It’s only been like 16 years since I was that age.  Things can’t be THAT different, right?  “Well since you use phrases like Criminey to Pete, you MUST be out of touch with things and these teens will think you are “old” and stuff, ” her inner critic says.  GAH!  Then again, I’m sure not many of my peers say “criminey to Pete” either.  I’m just … Continue Reading

Inspiration in the Little Things : The Cozy Scents of Home

crock pot comfort food

An important piece of living inspired is mindfulness.  Mindfulness is about finding inspiration in the little every day things.  Practicing mindfulness and living life with your senses turned on is a great way to experience gratitude! (I’ll be talking about enjoying the sense of smell today).  As you all know, I am BIG on gratitude.  Gratitude is the pathway to a life of true joy, satisfaction, peace and attracting more good things.  This wasn’t always the way I lived, but this is how bit by bit I pulled myself up out of a series of unfortunate events that made life miserable, to create a life that fills me with a deep sense of joy and purpose now.  Gratitude is an act of worship!  What a wonderful way to move in … Continue Reading

Healing Another Piece of My Past- My First Bully Experience

broken heart puzzle pieces

Tonight I did something I’ve thought about doing for a long time, but have avoided.  I finally responded to a Facebook friend request from a former friend who crafted a letter to bully me in the 9th grade.  I was sent this friend request so long ago.  I’m not sure how long it sat there.  8 months?  A year?  I just ignored it as there was no message attached.  Just a request to be added as a friend, which to be honest kind of flabbergasted me.  My last memory of this person was of them bullying me, so why would they want to reconnect now?   This is not often the nature of my blog posts here, but I think telling pieces of our story is healing.  I also think … Continue Reading

Gorgeous Sunset Photos Inspired by Tonight’s Caribbean Blue Sky

sunset

I thought I’d share a simple post from my world tonight.  It is mostly pictures.  Today was my parents anniversary and they invited me over for a little ice cream sundae party.  I was feeling quite tired tonight and was going to get a ride instead of walking, but I’m very glad I chose the walk instead.  The sun happened to just be setting as I took off:       I was walking down the street with a casserole dish of a fresh strawberry mango crisp dessert I had just baked , so I took these photos one handed with my cell phone haha.  Because of the houses and trees in the way I wasn’t able to quite capture the full effect of this gorgeous sunset.  There was a … Continue Reading
