Inspirational Five Minute Friday: Grasp

Today’s blog post is something new I tried this week.  It’s a 5 min. writing exercise prompted by Lisa-Jo, a community leader at the InCourage (part of Dayspring) network for women.  I was a bit chicken to do it, but anyways…here goes. If you are a blogger and want to participate in 5 min. Fridays, there is a new word prompt each week , and you can click through the link at the bottom of this to check it out. Rules: 1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking. 2. Link back here and invite others to join in. 3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them … Continue Reading

It’s time for another inspiring area of my blog (with a little story below for you) that has helped me to “live inspired” for well- my whole life actually!  Books and libraries are a huge part of who I am and I wanted to have a place on my website for us to share in the books that make us laugh, learn, grow, enjoy, feel entertained, get inspired, or maybe just cope with all of life’s ups and downs.  This cozy little corner of my blog can be located as a tab on my main website page and is called “The Book Nook”.  I will be sharing a wide variety of books and inspiring snippets with you, and please by all means, if you have read any of the books … Continue Reading

Meet Fluffy! – Feral Cat of the Week

If you have been following my blog, by now you have heard about Fluffy several times-mostly due to the stories about the birth of her kittens.  If you want to catch up on any of these stories you may have missed, you can find them all filed under the tab “The Cat Colony” at www.weliveinspired.com.  Fluffy was also mentioned in last week’s cat story about how the colony began and you can read that by clicking HERE if you wish 🙂     Fluffy was the second kitten I “tamed” from the feral cat colony that essentially lives behind our backyard (and I have a feeling there are a lot more in the woods and all around the vicinity).  She came to me for help and affection, and of course … Continue Reading

(Cooking) Tip of the Week- Handy Silicone Trivets!

One of the most handy kitchen tools I use is a silicone trivet.  I actually got mine from Avon a long time ago when I used to sell it, but you can get them online and probably at various stores as well.  They are very inexpensive.  This is what mine looks like:     There are lots of uses for these things!  It’s one of those “I don’t know how I lived without it before”, items for me.  There are some obvious uses for a silicone trivet, such as : a trivet (well duh!) haha.  Great for keeping near the stove or on the table to set hot dishes and pots on A hot pad- you can use these in lieu of an oven mitt to grip the handles … Continue Reading

A Cat Called Courage (or how the colony began) Part 2

This is Part 2 of the story of a charity that landed right in my backyard.  This is how the cat colony (that I didn’t even know existed) began.  This is the story of a cat called Courage!  If you missed Part 1, make sure to read that first by clicking here : A Cat Called Courage (or how the colony began) Part 1   May was in full bloom and this first little beautiful cat that shyly approached me behind the garden (at the rhubarb patch) had become a fast friend of mine.  It wasn’t long before I noticed he had a little friend.  As I would go meet “Courage” by the bushes each day I started to notice this fluffy little kitten (probably 4 months old) behind … Continue Reading

A “Crumby” Story

Are you having a crummy week?  How about a crummy story (literally) to make you feel better?  The events you are about to witness actually did happen-this is not much of a dramatization.  I must warn you that the writing style used is not grammatically correct for humor’s sake and you may find some of the pictures a bit “icky”  Read at your own risk…. 😉     Picture it – Girl in the kitchen (that’s me!), after midnight (did I mention I am a night owl?) , embarking on a glorious, new recipe tryin’ , cookin’ adventure towards chocolate bliss…. or NOT.   A friend came over for tea this summer with a wonderful bag of freshly baked chocolate cookies in tow.  I said , ” I must have … Continue Reading

Autumn Recipe-Potato Ham Soup

Autumn is quickly approaching and with Fall in the air, I have been starting to crave a hot bowl of soup.  I don’t have a lot of from scratch soup recipes, so I decided this year I am inspired to try some out to add to my recipe book!  What I like about soup is that it’s usually fun and easy to prepare, you can put it in a crock pot to have later.  Plus- usually soup is a healthy, balanced meal complete with veggies and protein. The first new soup recipe I made to (prematurely) kick off Fall (Hey it did drop down to the 50’s tonight!) is for a hearty- Potato Ham Soup!  Ingredients: 3 medium sized potatoes, peeled & cut into small cubes 2 cups water 1 small … Continue Reading

Relaxing Reflections-Inspired by the 23rd Psalm

Need something relaxing to meditate on this week?  I thought I would share another one of my “things that feed the soul”  things I have collected over the years-the most beautiful choral arrangement of the 23rd Psalm that I have ever heard ( I think it’s something most anyone of any background would enjoy).   I have always loved the 23rd Psalm and have found it not only to be a great biblical passage-but very poetic as well.  When I read it, I picture a comforting and symbolic scene of a shepherd guiding a lamb through rolling hills of the greenest grass, dotted with trees and clear glass- like streams of water.  In a society where it’s so easy to get caught up in material things, “wants”, and haves or … Continue Reading
