It’s Friday again and you know what that means! Inspiration in the form of poetry written in 5 minutes. Linking up with my writing friends at Lisa Jo’s Five Minute Friday and today’s word she gave was LONELY. Who knows that feeling? Before you color yourself blue today, I hope you will take time to read today’s inspiration. Sending you a virtual hug! And now for the poem:
Go
Reach Out and Bless Someone!:
Next time you’re feeling lonely,
Next time you’re feeling blue,
Remember to reach out my friends-
Someone else is lonely too.
In this great wide world out there,
There are many who share you plight.
So don’t give up and don’t give in-
Reach out with all your might!
You are part of something greater,
You are part of something vast!
Connected to the universe,
and All within its mass.
So take a step outside yourself,
Where loneliness resides-
To reach out to your fellow man
In the space where Love abides.
And you will see you weren’t alone-
That others struggle too,
The world was waiting for your touch-
And the blessing that is YOU.
Stop

Trust me friends, I have had many a lonely time. You want to know what the cure for loneliness is? Reaching out! Loneliness comes from the feeling that we are ALONE in the world. That no one else knows what THIS (name your situation) feels like. That we have nothing great to offer the world. That we are broken down, beat up and maybe no one would want to be around us like this. This is just negative self talk. You are NOT alone. Whatever your illness is , whatever your loss is, whatever your current situation is. Someone out there, chances are many many someone’s, are going through the exact same thing.
So reach out! Tell someone you need some lifting up today. BE the person who lifts others up. One thing that cures loneliness (at least for me during those times in the past) is to see how you can be a blessing to someone else today. You can do volunteer work, or do something more simple like baking cookies for an elderly neighbor who lives alone, or simply taking the time to call someone you know has been struggling. When you reach out of the loneliness to bless another, you will often find you are the one who comes out feeling blessed in return. I have experienced great things when reaching out to bless another!
A video to go with today’s message-“Reach Out of the Darkness” -a song I love from the 60’s 😀 (” I think it’s so groovy now that people are finally gettin’ together”) Click HERE if you can’t see the video.
Won’t you reach out today my friends?
A hand extended to you,
~Rebekah
I appreciate your post, Rebekah. It is true that loneliness tends to focus us inward but turning our focus outward to meet someone’s else needs can be uplifting. Thanks for the reminder.
Thank you E.W. Glad it speaks to you and thank you for visiting!
Hi Rebekah
Thanks for reminding us that the greatest antidote for loneliness is being a blessing to someone else.

You are welcome Mia. Thanks for visiting and many blessings your way.
Great post! Thanks for encouraging me to think of others and not just feel sorry for myself.
Hi Traci! Thanks for stopping by. I am glad you could find some encouragement here. I believe we are all connected and so it helps loneliness when we reach out a hand to each other and connect and share. Have a wonderfully blessed weekend!
A lovely poem and message, Rebekah. Thank you for reminding us to reach beyond ourselves and our circumstances. It’s so true that in doing so there is a double blessing. Others are helped and encouraged and we find our hearts lift in the process. Bless you, my friend, for reaching out here to touch our lives with the beauty in your soul. xx
To a fellow beautiful soul sister out there -Bless YOU my friend, for your kindness and sweet words. They just made my day! When it is one’s mission in life to touch others in some way , kinder words could not be spoken.
