I thought last week was the last day for this year of 5 min. Friday, but since there is one more day left in November, today was actually the last day. I will be back with more poetry in 5 minutes in January! The rules for these 5 min. Fridays are that you write on the word given for the day for 5 min. flat, with no over thinking or back tracking. I believe this exercise allows your spirit to “speak” , because well- you just let whatever wants to come out, out! So here we go- Today’s word is WONDER:
Go
I look at all of creation with gratitude and wonder-
The way the skies are so blue in the day,
with traces of cloud, and brightness of sunshine
And the birds that fly freely through it all.
And then how it turns in to night, but goes through several beautiful shades
on its way there,
before the earth is blanketed in darkness-
but never without light.
As the twinkling stars poke through and the moon oft shines.
Yes, our creator made sure that even in darkness,
We see traces of light!
Then there is the way that the earth goes through the changes of all four seasons
and the way that the rain is designed to make things
GROW (as it also is with suffering in life, and the growth that can come from tears)
Everything has its purpose -it is all so masterfully designed.
But perhaps one of the greatest wonders of all-
You and Me.
Mankind.
The way we were so fearfully and wonderfully made
The way our bodies function on their own-
Everything working synergistically.
The way we are each so unique,
That although there are billions of people out there-
Not one of them is EXACTLY like us!
You and I-
We are each a glorious wonder of God’s creation,
With our own unique inner and outer beauty.
May we always look at all of creation (including ourselves)
With Gratitude & Wonder (even when things aren’t going the way we would like them to)
Because He cares for us.

Stop
This week I was once again inspired by a favorite singer of mine , Natalie Merchant of the 10,000 maniacs. She happens to have a song called Wonder. She wrote this song about a girl who was born with seemingly insurmountable handicaps, but overcame them all with love from her adoptive mother (this girl had been given up to a state institution by her mother as a baby. Natalie used to work with special needs children). It’s a wonderful song, and I have included the inspiring video for you today: (Click HERE if you subscribe by email)
I was also led to a couple of scriptures (for today’s writing) that popped in my head for those of you who are interested in those. Maybe they will speak to you as well! I know the last one spoke to me because I literally am trying to write this lying down in bed today with this nasty vertigo spell I’m riding out! I have looked the verses up so you know where to find them :
- Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. ~ 1Peter 5:7 NLT
- Indeed, even the hairs on your head have all been counted! ~Matthew 10:30 (International Standard Version)
- The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.” ~Zephaniah 3:17 NIV
-
For the Lord delights in his people; he crowns the humble with victory. Let the faithful rejoice that he honors them. Let them sing for joy as they lie on their beds. ~Psalm 149:4-5 NLT
We are such a wonder, that He even knows the number of hairs on our head, and takes delight in us-rejoicing over us with singing 🙂 Be Blessed today! ~ Rebekah
All of my five minute poetry from these FMF’s, are now in an archive section all of their own at my website. Click HERE if interested in reading more of them.
well your head might be keeping you in bed but it is definitely spinning out some lovely thoughts…get well soon (just poppling over from Lisa Jo’s to say hey)
Thank you for stopping by and for the well wishes. Normally I comment much faster, but had to rest up first! Will stop by your place for a visit.
Wonderfully refreshing post, Rebekah. Your words blessed me. Thanks.
I am glad you enjoyed it, that makes me smile. I love Five minute Fridays! Thank you for stopping by and reading my words. I appreciate the nice comment. I tried to stop by and comment on your site as well, but it denied my comment due to not being logged in. Just wanted you to know I liked your post also, and had tried to comment 🙂 Merry Christmas (early) !
Thank you for this important reminder. We need to see ourselves as His creation and best of all…..the crown of the work of His Hands. If I just pause for a while and think how complex a human body is and, yet, everything works in harmony, I am filled with wonder at our God’s awesomeness!
Thank you, I enjoyed your poem.
Blessings to you
Mia
That is just what I was doing Mia. It is crazy if you actually pause to meditate on how your body works in harmony. I am glad you enjoyed the poem, and blessings to you as well!
Thanks for your e-mail, Rebekah! Merry Christmas (early) to you, too.
I have had tons of trouble with spam on my website; thus, I changed my setting to make them stricter. Your e-mail informed me that my new setting doesn’t let anyone comment. LOL. So back to the regular spam and special encouraging commentsfrom gals like you and Mia. Thanks for taking the time to offer a timely word! 🙂
Love in Christ,
Shannon Cochran 🙂
