The Path of Blessings-Poetry in Five

Every Friday I write for 5 minutes straight in poetry style (free verse or rhyme depending on what I am able to do with the word of the week) and share it at Lisa Jo’s with a wonderful community of writers, some who have become friends.  I hope you will enjoy your time here each Friday (and beyond!).  Today’s word is REMEMBER.  Let’s see what I can do with it.

The Path of Blessings:

As I traverse this path of life,

I hope to not remember strife.

I hope to leave all woes behind,

And walk with joy the road that winds.

And stop to help my fellow man,

And do good deeds where I can.

And drink in sunshine when it shows,

And stop to bend where flowers grow.

And dance in rain , and sing in storms-

Embracing life in all its forms.

Though life so full of trials be,

May these eyes mostly blessings see.

“Two roads diverged in a wood and I, I took the one less traveled by.  And that has made all the difference.”   ~Robert Frost

(My fav. poet from my favorite poem he wrote called The Road Not Taken)

What do you see today on your path?

“I hope to not remember strife”…that is my hope. I remember a lot of things but most of them, the not-so-good ones. I have to learn to remember the blessings instead.

I understand Shelia. It seems like the negatives so easily leave impressions on us all. I think it’s a daily practice of seeking light and looking for good that keeps us on the path of blessings :). Speaking of blessings- a bunch to you!

  2. Amy P Boyd says:

“Drink in the sunshine when it shows” Love that line because it reminds us to take all that life offers to us.

    • Rebekah (We Live Inspired) says:

Thanks for stopping by to comment Amy, because you gave me a new perspective to enjoy! Usually I write with double meanings, but this time I was thinking of enjoying literal sunshine on my face. I LOVE what you said here. Now my poem has new meaning to me- thank you.

  3. Barbie says:

“And dance in rain , and sing in storms- Embracing life in all its forms.” This is where I find myself today. You pen the most beautiful words in just five minutes!

    • Rebekah (We Live Inspired) says:

Well we find ourselves on a similar spot in the path Barbie,, because that line has been my Winter! Thanks so much for coming by and leaving a kind comment. I pray that whatever your storm is that you will feel love and blessings in the midst.

  4. Esther says:

    Beautiful as always Reb! <3
Sometimes I almost find myself reading the poem in a singing manner 🙂
And amen to every single action word in that poem 🙂
I feel that same way as you do 🙂
    hugs! xoxo

Thanks Esther! I suppose sometimes I hear it a bit sing song like as well. If only I could become a composer, then I could try to write a song to play on my guitar. That is not my area of talent though (composing music). I admire people who can do that with ease though! A hug to you for the weekend 🙂

  5. Vicki says:

    Beautiful Rebekah!

The Road Not Taken is one of my favorites also!

  6. HisFireFly says:

    love Frost’s words
    and yours 😉

  7. Becky Firesmith says:

First of all, I love your poem! (as usual!) I was just talking to my son this afternoon, who has daily physical and mental challenges, about this very topic. To try to look for the good instead of focusing on the bad. I just made him some fresh juice in the juicer to lift his spirits. It is wonderful how such little things as this can help eleveate someone’s sadness. He has perked up and sounds like he feels much better mentally now. I am glad that I can do small things like this for him to make his day better. Thanks for you poem!

    • Rebekah (We Live Inspired) says:

you are welcome! So easy to focus on bad some days, hunting for blessings fills life with more joy 🙂 I am glad he felt better after some special attention from Mom.

  8. Becky Firesmith says:

I hate leaving a mistake. I am a bit OCD. : ) so the last line above should be: ‘Thanks for the poem!’

  9. Ruth Povey says:

A wonderful post and I LOVE your blog – beautiful!

Somehow I missed this and didn’t respond. Wanted to take the time to thank you for your comment. I think you are the first person to comment on my actual blog! The blog header and background is a chalk drawing I did called Nature’s Bliss. It made me happy to know that another person out there liked my web design 🙂 as a lot of work went in to it. Thanks for commenting to let me know what you thought. It for sure made me smile!
