One Voice Can Change the World- Five Min. Friday

Another 5 minute Friday is here.  Today’s word was Voice.  So here is what I wrote on that topic:

Go

Voice

It’s amazing what one voice can do.

One voice stood up one day and said, “No I won’t sit at the back of the bus.”

Her voice changed the world that day.

One voice stood up and said,

“I have a dream…”

Which filled the people with hope.

His voice made such a difference that in America we have a national holiday to honor him.

One voice said things like “All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts.”

That voice shaped the world of English Literature.

One voice sang songs like ” Blue Suede Shoes” & “Jailhouse Rock” –

introducing rock & roll,

Changing the world of music forever.

Some people say that one person can’t change the world, but the world has often been changed by one voice.

One voice said “Let there be Light”

That voice spoke this very world,

Our very being,

Into existence.

And one voice came down from the heavens and said to the people,

“Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.  For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.”

Yes, one voice can make a BIG difference.

These voices have done grand things.

They have created the world,

Changed the world,

Shaped history,

Inspired the masses,

Brought hope to the people.

But there are also “voices” that touch my heart,

That haven’t changed the whole world.

The voice of a mother

When you are in need of compassion or advice.

The laughter of a good friend

When your spirit needs a lift.

The sound of my cats when they are excited to see me

The sound of their “purr” when I need some comfort.

The gentle voice of your guy on the telephone

When you’ve had a rough day.

The voice of each and every family member, friend , and person

That make up the rich patchwork quilt of your life.

These are the voices that are mine.

My familiar, warm, and wonderful voices.

These voices too, make a big difference.

And while these voices may not change the whole world,

They change mine.

Thanks Denise. I so appreciated your comment. There is so much power in one voice. It’s really amazing when you think about what regular people do to make a difference in our lives or in the world.

This is a very beautiful post. Yes, one voice can change a life and bring hope and healing. I was in the grocery store today and ran into a lady who was about to go visit her dad, who had Parkinson’s. She said that she was dealing with that as well as having two young children. My heart went out to her and I hope my words were graceful and healing to her.

Thank you Sherry and welcome to my little blogging corner. I am sure your voice did wonders for that woman. Really, just a simple kindness can make someone’s day! Kudos to you for using your voice to help another. 🙂
