Vintage Glamor Photos of Me & Some Other Fun Stuff from Mother’s Day

I hope you all had a fabulous Mother’s Day!  I am taking time away from my traditional , more professionally written articles of inspiration, to just casually talk to you about what’s going on.  I have been super busy the past week with some really cool things we did for Mother’s Day  (among other things), and so that is why there hasn’t been an article in the past week (and no FMF poem).

One thing you may (or may not) know about me, is that I LOVE to host theme parties.  Specifically themed TEA parties!  This all started about 4-5 years ago when I planned the first (very small) tea party as a surprise birthday gift for my Mom.  She , her good friend and I enjoyed it so much, that it became a regular thing for various different occasions.  One such occasion is Mother’s Day.  We had the first annual Mother’s Day tea last year, and so this year was our second.  So far they are pretty small.  It is for ladies only, and it is just a couple of the mother’s & daughter’s on Mom’s side of the family that happen to live nearby.

This year’s theme was very vintage/retro.  In fact it was called a “Vintage tea cup” party.  That is one of the things I was so busy with all week.  Cleaning for the party, making decorations and place settings, putting together a really cool gift idea for Mom, and cooking/baking of course.  The actual party was Saturday.  That was followed by Matt’s family stopping by to see me on Saturday evening , as they had to travel here for a funeral (they live in Tennessee).  It was great seeing family and I had SO Much fun dressing up for the party.  I guess I didn’t previously mention that Mom went to a nearby Vintage Boutique store and bought herself a new outfit for tea, and then surprised me with a Vintage dress to wear too!  Honestly, I have not had a fancy party dress like this since the prom (what..15 years ago?).  I don’t live in a big city where I mingle at all of these fancy parties, so I really don’t get to wear high heels and fancy dresses often.  So fun being a girl and getting to do this on occasion though!  I did a sort of old Hollywood glamor look to my hair for part of the party (and then did a Jane Austen like bun look demonstration to my hair later on…see below about that).  Here is a sneak peek of what I looked like… ( I swear I don’t look anywhere near this glamorous most days!)

**Side Note:  You can click on the photos to see them larger, in a nice gallery view on my website if you wish.  I am not the best at taking smiling cell phone photos of myself , but you will see smiling photos of us at the party later :).  In other news I am growing my bangs out for the first time in my whole life (never thought I had the forehead for it).  This is a completely new look I have been trying to get used to!  You can see a photo of me with bangs HERE to see what I mean.  I have always had them!

The tea party will have a continuation this Tues. also.  My friend Becky (whom I met online via my work from home “job”) is (kind of) nearby seeing family and will be coming to stay for a few days this week.  Since we have leftover place settings, dessert, etc.  we will be having a second party this week with different guests.  :D.  More lady time?  I will take it!!  (It’s not often I get girl time).  If you don’t see me posting much this week, you will know why.  However, for the next two weeks I plan on sharing all sorts of neat stuff from the tea party.

Such as…

  • Photos of me in my vintage dress (and some other guests too)
  • A really cool gift giveaway for these sparkly vintage hair pins I wore for the tea party.   I will show you how I did a romantic looking loose bun and what my hair looked like, but you will have a chance to win what I wore in my hair!
  • A couple of recipes from the tea party-fancy looking appetizers or desserts that are easy to make
  • A cool and unique way to make a gift box out of a mug (which is what I did for Mom for her Mother’s Day gift).  I promise it is very whimsical, magical and oh so cute.
  • I may be also sharing some craft ideas for pretty place settings your can make or other decor.

Aside from the super fun tea party things and giveaway to come, I have some neat and inspiring plans that I think you all will enjoy coming up soon as well.  One is kind of a secret for now, but in the meantime I will tell you that you will be learning more about cultures around the world (that is the only hint I am giving 😉 ) .  The other thing to come are some inspiring human interest stories.  I will go in to details on these later.  Of course I will still share all of the other content you are used to sprinkled in between (Friday poems, Cat stories and photos, discounts and freebies, etc.)

I do have a question for my subscribers- do you prefer to get your email updates on new stuff I share in the morning as I have been doing lately, or would do you like to get emails in the evening?  If you would like to give me feedback on that I will take into consideration what the popular majority likes.    I never run out of material to share with you, but also if there is a topic you would like me to delve in to or write on from my perspective on here, feel free to drop me a comment about that as well.  I like to share things that will inspire you guys, as living inspired together is what it’s all about!

  1. Your tea party sounds like it was the best gift you could ever give your mother. 🙂 And how sweet of her to buy you a vintage dress! You look lovely with your fun hairstyle too!
I’ve had fun visiting at your blog. Thanks for stopping by mine earlier. I saw that you work from home in the ‘about’ section and you gave the impression that there would be a category about it. Did I miss it somewhere?
    Blessings!

Thank you- it was very lovely indeed! I had fun on yours also. I will for sure visit again , as it is my kind of theme :). About working from home. Yes, I have been doing that for the past 5 years now and work with a great company that has allowed me to get a reliable monthly check for that duration whether I work in the current month or not (residual income). You didn’t miss anything. I am still adding new pages to my blog as I am a newer blogger and I have been busier lately so haven’t gotten around to making the work from home tab yet. I think I mention in my about page that for now I can explain it via email (until the page is up). I will for sure be adding a work from home section in the near future! I believe we have a $1,000 check promo going on this month. I will contact you privately (via email) to tell you more if you like. I love helping other women/families make extra income from home :). Thanks so much for stopping by. It’s a pleasure connecting through our blogs !

  2. Bekah! You look great without bangs 🙂

I love themed parties too! But I’ve realized keeping it small is more doable, teehee 🙂
I’m sure your mum and the other ladies had much fun at the party you planned 🙂 Sweet of you to take time to plan it for them! 🙂

How have you been? I’ve been away for so long~ 🙂
