There is this wildly popular thing on social media called “Throwback Thursday”. Since today is Thursday, I thought I’d share a funny cooking disaster story from when I was in the 5th grade. I’ve had many kitchen foibles over the years, as any experienced cook has. The time I cooked meat in corn syrup is the very first cooking disaster I ever remember having. As far as how this relates to living inspired- I’d put it in the category of being bold and trying new things you’ve never done – all by yourself (like a big kid -HA!). Of course trying new things you aren’t sure you can do is always inspiring-even if you fail. Failure means you tried it so that is a GOOD thing! I grew … Continue Reading →
It’s Friday Night which means it is time for poetry in Five! The word this week is Patience (note, I went to the FMF facebook page to get the word and I guess Patience was the Tuesday word, which I didn’t notice until now. I already wrote on Patience so, my apologies fellow FMFers for having the word wrong). My 5 min. ran out about halfway through the poem today, but I was having fun with it so I continued on. Hopefully my readers have a sense of humor and will laugh at this (I love making you guys smile!), because this week’s poem is meant to be funny, satirical and a bit hyperbole. I went the direction of relating patience (or lack thereof) to the challenges of living in a modern … Continue Reading →
Ah, it’s been awhile since I welcomed you all in to a sneak peak at my cozy cottage life, as part of my cozy cottage weekends feature! Today I am taking you back to my first Summer at the cottage when we first became home owners (just a year ago). Open the cottage gate, grab your cup of tea or coffee and come sit with me for a spell as I tell the tale of “The Time I Fed My Family Coreopsis Mashed Potatoes” ! I had always wanted to own a garden. I had always wanted to grow herbs. The Summer of 2013 I got my wish, as God provided a home for us that came with both already built right in! I felt I must … Continue Reading →
Five Minute Friday’s are back! I have had a doozy of a day and am in silly mood at this point so I am not sure how this five minute Friday will go today! It could end up good, or it could end up really stupid and cheesy. I typically write poetry style, but am not as poetic today, so I may deviate a little. Anyways, same rules as always. You write for 5 minutes only…you can’t over think or back track. And you must visit the person who went before you. Today’s word is DIVE, so I am going to er..dive in here and see what we come up with. Go It’s a new year Doesn’t that make you want to just dive right in ? Dive … Continue Reading →
Who needs a good chuckle at my expense this week? Look no further! This week’s 5 min. Friday started with a major blonde moment on my part, and since there is this rule that you can’t over think this, you can’t backtrack, and you just have to write what comes to mind for 5 minutes flat, I left it just as it happened-blonde moment and all :) Maybe I shouldn’t get so excited about 5 min. Fridays that I stay up past midnight to write these! Surely this is to blame… My friend Becky and I did this project together while we were Skype chatting tonight, and since she is not a blogger, she will be leaving her 5 min. Friday in the comments section below (at the website-for … Continue Reading →
Are you having a crummy week? How about a crummy story (literally) to make you feel better? The events you are about to witness actually did happen-this is not much of a dramatization. I must warn you that the writing style used is not grammatically correct for humor’s sake and you may find some of the pictures a bit “icky” Read at your own risk…. Picture it – Girl in the kitchen (that’s me!), after midnight (did I mention I am a night owl?) , embarking on a glorious, new recipe tryin’ , cookin’ adventure towards chocolate bliss…. or NOT. A friend came over for tea this summer with a wonderful bag of freshly baked chocolate cookies in tow. I said , ” I must have this … Continue Reading →
As the saying goes- “You learn something new every day!” Today was one of those days. Although at times frustrating, Life is FULL of ridiculous and funny moments and with the right perspective and sense of humor, you can find plenty of things out there to keep you laughing your way through life! Let me start out by saying that today actually started out quite frustrating. Due to some issues with our small town not getting a good signal with ATT, my fiance and I decided it was time to switch our cell phones to Verizon. My Motorola Atrix Smart Phone was replaced with a new Droid Razr. I spent quite a long time on the phone with customer service about a few different things (mostly to do … Continue Reading →
