The Collective Heartbeat of Life – Poetry by Rebekah

Good Morning! It is time for a poetic 5 minute Friday (in which I attempt to write a poem on a single word in five minutes) !  I know it has been oh so long since I have posted these and I want to get back to it.  I’m still working on my poetry books and need to keep some poems “secret” (unpublished in the world) for that, but I want to write some exclusive poetry just for my readers at the same time.  Some Five Minute Friday’s I may just write on the word without my personal challenge of doing poetry in five minutes.  Whether poetry or just sharing my thoughts on the word of the week, I’m bringing FMF back.  Today’s word is ALONE and it is a … Continue Reading

Inspired Poetry by Rebekah-An Abundance of Riches

the world is so full of a number of things

It’s here!  The latest poem I wrote for my inspirational poetry book.  I know it’s not a poetic Friday, but since last Friday was Thanksgiving weekend, I am sharing this now.  For those of you who don’t know, poetry has been a big part of my life since about the third grade.  One of the poems I enjoyed in childhood was one from the book “A Child’s Garden of Verses” by Robert Louis Stevenson.  Today’s poetry was inspired by the little poem “Happy Thought” that he wrote (as seen in the graphic image above).     An Abundance of Riches   When I see the discontent of the world, I have to wonder if there’s a lack of noticing. Are we blind to the riches we possess, Because of … Continue Reading

Cell Phones-A Funny Poem About Technology and Modern Times

It’s Friday Night which means it is time for poetry in Five!  The word this week is Patience (note, I went to the FMF facebook page to get the word and I guess Patience was the Tuesday word, which I didn’t notice until now.  I already wrote on Patience so, my apologies fellow FMFers for having the word wrong).  My 5 min. ran out about halfway through the poem today, but I was having fun with it so I continued on.  Hopefully my readers have a sense of humor and will laugh at this (I love making you guys smile!), because this week’s poem is meant to be funny, satirical and a bit hyperbole.  I went the direction of relating patience (or lack thereof) to the challenges of living in a modern … Continue Reading

God’s Doing Something New With Me-Poetry in Five

potter and clay

It’s Friday , which means it is time for my Poetry in Five Series!  This is where I link up with my favorite writing prompt community to write for five minutes on the word of the week.  I have a goal of writing more poetry (as it is one of my main loves when it comes to words), so I give myself the extra challenge of writing a poem (and a rhyming one if possible).  Today’s word is NEW.  These words were inspired by a conversation I had with a lady who is going through a very hard time right now.  Having each gone through some very trying times in life, we talked about new beginnings and the miracles that have been present every step along the way!   Today’s … Continue Reading

Lost- a Poem and the Story of Amazing Grace

Feeling Lost

Five Minute Friday is here, and this week I am back to bringing you a rhyming poem in five!  Linking up a day late, as I was working hard on a project yesterday.  Today’s word is LOST.  This poem ended up evolving into using the sea and sailing as a metaphor for life.  I am excited to share it with you!  If you are in need of encouragement today because you are feeling lost or burdened by your troubles, I hope you will take comfort in these words.  I am including the powerful story of the spiritual song Amazing Grace as part of today’s story.       Lost   When you’ve wandered off the path and don’t know where to turn, When the waters are no longer calm and … Continue Reading

On Releasing Old Stories and Emotions

inspiring quotes

This weeks Five Minute Friday word is RELEASE.  I make it my personal goal to bring you poetry in five each week, but today’s word just has me wanting to write it all out.  I want to talk about releasing old stories and emotions.  The topic of release is something I have been talking quite a lot about with a few dear, close friends.  So many of my friends and I are releasing things lately.  Releasing pain, releasing people who have disappointed us, releasing past patterns that run deep, releasing expectations even.  I am fortunate to have met such a wonderful group of people who have bright spirits and want to be transformers!     We speak of transformation quite a lot these days, and even in the mentoring I … Continue Reading

The Fairy Messengers-Inspired Poetry by Rebekah

fairychildrenquote

It’s Five Minute Friday and the word this week is MESSENGERS.  I had such fun with this word!  I have written another fairy poem for the fairy poetry book I am working on publishing.  Today’s poem is called “The Fairy Messengers”.  Most of my fairy poetry is inspired by my garden and the wide variety of flowers, greenery and creatures I “play” with there.  Get ready to be sprinkled with fairy dust!     The Fairy Messengers:   Quick as a flash they dart through the sky, Rarely seen by the naked eye. Over field and meadow they carry your dreams, As they ride on the back of dragonfly wings.   Leaving love notes on flowers and sprinkling new seeds, Following the wind wherever it leads. Merry with joy, laughing … Continue Reading

The Layer Cake Sky -Poetry in Five

The Layer Cake Sky Poem by weliveinspired.com

Happy Friday my Friends!  Bringing you some free verse poetry/prose today as I link up for another Five Minute Friday with Lisa Jo and the gang.  Today’s 5 minute writing challenge word is RED.  I wrote mine on a sunset I saw a couple of weeks ago, that I wanted to capture on photo, but couldn’t.  It was one of those magical skies that made you feel like you almost were not on the street you live, but on some island in the Caribbean for vacation.   Yes my friends, sometimes the mundane can be marvelous!  That is something you will often find me doing here at We Live Inspired- really SEEING what is in front of me and sharing my perspectives on it all.  I hope that you will … Continue Reading

Listen is a Verb-Poetry in Five

shared joy doubled shared sorrow half sorrow

It’s Five Min. Friday, and you know what that means!  I will be linking up with my writing friends at Lisa Jo’s and bringing you my own twist of the exercise which I call “Poetry in Five” (you can click on that to read past poems).  I ended up doing Free Verse today instead of rhyme.  The word I had to write on today was LISTEN. Go Listen is a Verb:   It is when I Stop to listen that I truly HEAR. What’s not being said outright, but what is being spoken without words. (Those gentle nuances that say so much more than words do alone) Do you take time to really Listen to your fellow man? To listen to the cries of their heart- To not just be … Continue Reading

Poetry in Five- Change Your View and Change Your Life

Copyright Rebekah 2013

It’s Friday and you know what that means!  I am linking up with Lisa Jo Baker’s site to bring you my version of the Five Min. Friday writing exercise in which I write poetry in Five.  This week’s word is VIEW.  Setting my timer!   GO    Change Your View & Change Your Life:   Perspective is such an important thing- How we view the world around us, How we view others, How we view ourselves. I choose to live life with an inspired view (hence the theme/name of my website :)). One thing I have discovered about Life is that those who are happiest, don’t necessarily have it all (i.e. the perfect life). It’s an illusion and a false perspective to think that to be happy we must have … Continue Reading
