Quiet that illuminates-Inspirational 5 Minute Friday

It’s 5 Minute Friday!  The rules are that you have to write something that comes to mind with the word prompt given for 5 minutes straight without over thinking and back tracking.  The other really important rule is that us bloggers visit other writers to read what they wrote and leave a comment-especially the one that posted right before us.   It’s what community is all about!  This week the timer ran out before the last 4 little lines were written.  So I went just a teensy bit over to complete the poem so that it wasn’t unfinished.  I figured you all would let it slide this time 😉   Today’s word was “Quiet”: Quiet In the stillness of the night I sit here writing. The house is quiet. The … Continue Reading

A Little Faith Goes a Long Way: Series on “Change” Pt. 2

I am doing a little series on “Change” for Fall here at “We Live Inspired!” this month.  If you missed Part 1 (Change-Embrace, Resist, or Avoid?) click HERE to catch up!  I ended the first article on change mentioning how moving forward we would explore how to embrace it, since it’s inevitable.  I am learning right along with you here, so while searching my soul for answers on this, what came to me was that the road to change starts with 2 things:   Acceptance.   Since change IS inevitable, somehow we must learn to make peace with it.  Sometimes I can be very stubborn in this area-clinging to what I know, instead of allowing the natural flow and rhythm of life to wash over me.  With acceptance comes the necessary … Continue Reading

Tip of the Week- My Money Saving Online Shopping “Secrets”

Since I am in the midst of a little money saving series for holiday shopping {on how I get things free or really discounted}, I thought I would share some general money saving tips today.  I have been talking about specific places I use, but I thought now would be a good time to break from that and tell you some tips that will apply to most every place you shop. These things don’t take much time, and are very worth it.  This post may be a little bit long as a result, but I want all of these tips to be in one place to make it easy for you.  Save this post for a reference! It takes awhile to get in to the habit of remembering to … Continue Reading

5 Minute Friday Funny-Growing Roots (aka Butt Plant Syndrome)

TGIF!!  Yes, Thank Goodness it’s Friday! (Five Minute Friday that is).  Who is ready for a laugh today ( I did a comedic twist for today’s post).  The rules are you are supposed to write whatever comes to mind with the special word of the day.  No over thinking, or over editing.  Just pure writing flowing out however it wants to.  The other super important rule is that you can’t be all about yourself here…you are supposed to visit the person who wrote before you and leave a comment.  After all, that is what community is all about! Today’s secret word was “Roots”  (for other 80’s children out there…does the word of the day ever make you think of the show Pee-Wee’s play house? Or maybe it’s just me…. 🙂 … Continue Reading

DIY Cool Crackle Finish Nail Art for Halloween/Twilight Inspired Looks

This Halloween I decided to try out a really neat new Manicure/Pedicure so I can look all cool and stuff for when I pass out Halloween Candy to the Trick-or-Treaters Tonight in my costume.  I have been seeing a lot of trendy looking nail art looks this year using all different kinds of funky colors and textures.  I have a really cool Halloween Inspired look for you that is really easy to do yourself ,but yet looks like you went to a lot of trouble.  For those of you who like the Twilight Books and Movies, the colors I used (shades of twilight, like black, purples, gray glitters, etc) combined with the crackle finish, did remind me of bare trees/branches at night.  Maybe that is just my creative eye, … Continue Reading

One Voice Can Change the World- Five Min. Friday

Another 5 minute Friday is here.  Today’s word was Voice.  So here is what I wrote on that topic: Go Voice It’s amazing what one voice can do. One voice stood up one day and said, “No I won’t sit at the back of the bus.” Her voice changed the world that day. One voice stood up and said, “I have a dream…” Which filled the people with hope. His voice made such a difference that in America we have a national holiday to honor him. One voice said things like “All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts.” That voice shaped the world of English Literature. One voice … Continue Reading

Guest Post “On Being a Writer…” Plus Giveaway Winner Announcement!

My lovely friend Tonya, who writes a blog called “Nearly Missed It” has been doing a 31 day word prompt writing challenge.  She has asked me to write along with her today and to do a guest post at HER website on the topic of “writing” .  I had different plans for this topic on writing, and started out writing more about myself, but was inspired by the story of Moses instead.  It’s funny how when you get to writing, something else can take hold of you and steer your words in a completely different direction!   So anyways, if you would like to check out the story of what Moses has to do with being a writer, and also learn the 4 things that have helped shape my writing, … Continue Reading

Change- Embrace, Resist or Avoid? (Series on Change Pt. 1

Change- Have you ever heard the saying, “the only thing that never changes is that things always change”?  Very true indeed.  There seem to be only 2 constants in life- God and change.  I must confess I am not very unlike my little furry friends, in that while I am a free spirited type of person, I am also a creature of habit.  Sort of a contradictory combo I guess.  With Summer turning to Autumn, and so many changes in my life the past year (some good, some highly difficult)-not to mention feeling on the verge of even more big life changes,  I am caught between 2 places- excitement and upset apple-cart-ness.     There are some changes I just love and embrace.  For instance- I love trying new foods, … Continue Reading
