Hello Inspired Readers!   Here I go again being MIA on the blog .  2015 and now going in to 2016 is full of tons of NEW for me.  I haven’t gone anywhere, I am not abandoning this blog.  I do apologize for posting less in the past year than I used to.  There is a reason for that and it has to do with putting together all the pieces of who I am and what I want to give to the world.  I am working diligently behind the scenes on getting these pieces put together so I can share it all with you, while still adjusting to the first year of being a wife and living in my own home with my man.  I am quirky in that I … Continue Reading

Entertaining a Teenager- My First Christmas as an Aunt

e5f25383-a279-4e31-8244-3c79afa3091a

I can remember feeling both worried and super excited about all the changes that occurred in 2015.  One of these was becoming an aunt (officially) and wondering what teenagers (more specifically college students) these days deem as “fun”.  I’m laughing at myself because I realize how “old” that sounds.  (She says in granny voice, “What are these teenagers up to these days?!!).  Criminey to Pete- It’s only been like 16 years since I was that age.  Things can’t be THAT different, right?  “Well since you use phrases like Criminey to Pete, you MUST be out of touch with things and these teens will think you are “old” and stuff, ” her inner critic says.  GAH!  Then again, I’m sure not many of my peers say “criminey to Pete” either.  I’m just … Continue Reading

Inspiration in the Little Things : The Cozy Scents of Home

crock pot comfort food

An important piece of living inspired is mindfulness.  Mindfulness is about finding inspiration in the little every day things.  Practicing mindfulness and living life with your senses turned on is a great way to experience gratitude! (I’ll be talking about enjoying the sense of smell today).  As you all know, I am BIG on gratitude.  Gratitude is the pathway to a life of true joy, satisfaction, peace and attracting more good things.  This wasn’t always the way I lived, but this is how bit by bit I pulled myself up out of a series of unfortunate events that made life miserable, to create a life that fills me with a deep sense of joy and purpose now.  Gratitude is an act of worship!  What a wonderful way to move in … Continue Reading

Healing Another Piece of My Past- My First Bully Experience

broken heart puzzle pieces

Tonight I did something I’ve thought about doing for a long time, but have avoided.  I finally responded to a Facebook friend request from a former friend who crafted a letter to bully me in the 9th grade.  I was sent this friend request so long ago.  I’m not sure how long it sat there.  8 months?  A year?  I just ignored it as there was no message attached.  Just a request to be added as a friend, which to be honest kind of flabbergasted me.  My last memory of this person was of them bullying me, so why would they want to reconnect now?   This is not often the nature of my blog posts here, but I think telling pieces of our story is healing.  I also think … Continue Reading

Gorgeous Sunset Photos Inspired by Tonight’s Caribbean Blue Sky

sunset

I thought I’d share a simple post from my world tonight.  It is mostly pictures.  Today was my parents anniversary and they invited me over for a little ice cream sundae party.  I was feeling quite tired tonight and was going to get a ride instead of walking, but I’m very glad I chose the walk instead.  The sun happened to just be setting as I took off:       I was walking down the street with a casserole dish of a fresh strawberry mango crisp dessert I had just baked , so I took these photos one handed with my cell phone haha.  Because of the houses and trees in the way I wasn’t able to quite capture the full effect of this gorgeous sunset.  There was a … Continue Reading

The Collective Heartbeat of Life – Poetry by Rebekah

mf6FvuI

Good Morning! It is time for a poetic 5 minute Friday (in which I attempt to write a poem on a single word in five minutes) !  I know it has been oh so long since I have posted these and I want to get back to it.  I’m still working on my poetry books and need to keep some poems “secret” (unpublished in the world) for that, but I want to write some exclusive poetry just for my readers at the same time.  Some Five Minute Friday’s I may just write on the word without my personal challenge of doing poetry in five minutes.  Whether poetry or just sharing my thoughts on the word of the week, I’m bringing FMF back.  Today’s word is ALONE and it is a … Continue Reading

He Gives Us Hope for Tomorrow- On Dealing with Depression

joy comes in the morning

“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”  ~from Psalm 30:5 KJV   (there will be more inspirational verse, music, and my latest radio podcast at the end of this post if you need some encouragement).       When you are in despair, it sure doesn’t seem like joy is just around the corner.  It feels like the heaviness will not lift and you just sort of get by minute by minute, hour by hour until it passes.  It is hard to be stuck in this sort of dreary spot and even harder to remember that truly, this too shall pass.  These are the sort of days that drag on.  Those never ending blah and merely existing days.     I was feeling this way … Continue Reading

Permission and Why it is My Word for 2015

permission slip no.1 permission to be imperfect

There is this word thing I became aware of a few years ago where people pick their word for the new year instead of making the typical resolutions.  This one word is like your theme. Your catalyst to change or transform something. Maybe it is about defining the person you want to be so you can reach a certain goal. Last year my word was continue.  This year it is PERMISSION. I have been meaning to write this post for awhile, but it is never too late (giving myself permission to do things in my own time haha).  If you are curious about setting the tone for your year with one word and want to know more, you can checkout THIS website.  The year is half over, so this is … Continue Reading

Be Kind for Everyone You Meet is Fighting a Hard Battle

and the greatest of these is love

“Be Kind for Everyone You Meet is Fighting a Hard Battle” -Plato     The past two nights, in having two people reach out to me, God has been reminding me of the power of kindness and compassion. In working with the public as I do, I am often witness to the personal pain and suffering of my fellow man. When I meet a person initially, their pain isn’t often apparent. At some point when they feel safe, their walls come down. It is easier for their walls to come down because usually, I can’t see their faces. I am sure part of their comfort level has to do with the unique nature in which I work- online and via telephone. If you aren’t used to having people share their … Continue Reading

I’m Back and I’m Married!!

our wedding day

Hello Inspired Friends!  I’m sorry I haven’t blogged in forever.  I didn’t plan on going on a blogging break for so long.  It all just sort of happened!  You may remember me talking about being engaged and wanting to get married this year.  We hadn’t set a date yet, but I had it in my heart that I wanted to get married on the anniversary of when we first met.  So much stuff was going on over the Winter, and then my I had some graphic design work I was doing, among other things.  I just didn’t know if I could pull it off.  Of course you may have guessed by the title that I did!  We set the date officially back in April some time and then I worked … Continue Reading
