The Glad Game-A Thanksgiving Gift Giveaway!

The Glad Game

Thanksgiving is almost here, and to celebrate I have created another giveaway game for you!  You could win TWO free gifts that you can keep for yourself or give to someone for Christmas!    The game I have created is called the “Glad Game” and is based around gratitude.  Have you ever seen the old Disney movie “Polyanna”?  My inspiration for this game came from that movie.  The character Polyanna (played by Hayley Mills)  , plays the “glad game” in the movie by focusing on all there is to be glad about in life.  Her sunny attitude eventually starts to make a difference in the lives of those around her, even warming the hearts of a grumpy old recluse and another elderly lady who worries about her health all of … Continue Reading

Living in the Here and Now- Finding Peace in the Present

Newborn Kittens by weliveinspired

Happy Friday everyone!  Today’s Magic word of inspiration from Lisa-Jo the word HERE.  Who knows what will come of today’s word-that is the fun and mystery of it!  Today’s writing came out less poem-ish, and maybe more like prose.  Take a moment to relax in the here and now with me :).  Let’s go! Go   Living in the Here and Now We spend so much time in the past or present , instead of the Here and Now. Worrying about what tomorrow brings, Wondering if we can handle the bumps in the road. Stressing over all the things that must be done, Making mental lists. Thinking of the past, Maybe even wondering what might have been. — Paths not taken, Opportunities missed Relationships left behind or never pursued, Lost … Continue Reading

Cat Tales-A Christmas Tree for Tangerine

Calico Cat under the Christmas Tree

Once upon a time there was a funny little calico cat named Tangerine.  Tangerine didn’t have a home and lived outside with a group of other homeless feral cats (feral meaning not used to human contact).  One day in the summer Tangerine decided to hide under the lounge chair where a girl sat outside reading books and giving love to some of the other cats  that Tangerine knew.  Tangerine would sometimes bat at the girl from under the chair, as she was a very silly and playful kitten.   She was starving and skinny and needed some help because her fur was falling out and she had sores all over.  She was pretty much a mess.  So she reached out to the girl, who helped her get to the … Continue Reading

Five Minute Friday- “Thank You”

Mickey&Minnie say Thanks! www.weliveinspired.com

This is the last 5 minute Friday until the New Year Begins.  I have been enjoying writing on the word prompt each week , bringing you poetry-silly or poetic in just 5 minutes of writing with whatever the word of the week is.  Can’t wait until January to begin again! Today’s word is Thank-You.  I think I will deviate from my typical poetry style for today.  Setting my clock!….   Go Thank You: This heart of thanks does not only make a practice of gratitude once a year, on Thanksgivings.  A thankful heart can be and should be a way of life-thanking my creator for the blessings I have (even in the midst of difficulties), both little and big.  I think of people I want to say thank you to … Continue Reading

Relaxing Reflections-Inspired by the 23rd Psalm

An oil painting I did a few years ago.

Need something relaxing to meditate on this week?  I thought I would share another one of my “things that feed the soul”  things I have collected over the years-the most beautiful choral arrangement of the 23rd Psalm that I have ever heard ( I think it’s something most anyone of any background would enjoy).   I have always loved the 23rd Psalm and have found it not only to be a great biblical passage-but very poetic as well.  When I read it, I picture a comforting and symbolic scene of a shepherd guiding a lamb through rolling hills of the greenest grass, dotted with trees and clear glass- like streams of water.  In a society where it’s so easy to get caught up in material things, “wants”, and haves or … Continue Reading

It All Starts With Gratitude

My Gratitude Journal. The cover makes me think of that saying about carving your blessings in stone and your troubles in sand...

I want to introduce you to another section of my blog I will be adding content to.  It’s called “Gratitude Journal” and is listed under the tab “Inspiration Station” at the top of my website.  This is another area that I invite you to participate in if you wish!   If you haven’t read my “About” page, I talk a little bit in there about how I came up with the name of this website, and what “living inspired” is all about to me.  One of the things I have done in the past decade or so is keep a gratitude journal.  When I first started it, I was kind of at a crossroads in my life (coming out of teen years and starting to enter adulthood) where I was … Continue Reading

What Makes You Smile?

While I don't have any pictures of our first date, this is an earlier photo that shows Matt with the car he picked me up on on our first date. Fond memories! I loved that car and thought it was one of the coolest cars in town :)

Today (August 26) is my fiance’s birthday, so in honor of that I am writing a special post that is about the topic of things that make us smile, but also about my first date with Matt (the 2 are tied together).   Matt and I met at a party at a mutual acquaintance’s house.  It’s kind of funny because it wasn’t a place either one of us usually went to (in fact I think it was the first time either of us had gone), but we happened to both show up on the same night.  I won’t go in to the whole story in the post (too long) , but will just say that it was the typical guy sees girl across a semi crowded room and asks about … Continue Reading
