Tea Sandwiches-Chicken Stuffed Cones

Tea Party Appetizers-Chicken Salad Cones

I am kicking this week off with another yummy recipe from the recent themed tea party we had for Mother’s Day.  I wasn’t intending on posting the full recipe for these cones, but I have had a few friends see the photos on my personal Facebook page and ask for the recipe.  If you missed the last yummy tea appetizer recipe for Cranberry Feta Pinwheels (where I showed a photo of today’s cones) , click HERE.  By popular request, today I am sharing a fun (and visually appealing) twist on tea sandwiches that your guests will be impressed with. **Note:  the original recipe called for crab meat, but since Mom and I are not seafood fans we did a twist on this cookbook recipe and used chicken instead.     … Continue Reading

Poetry in Five- Change Your View and Change Your Life

It’s Friday and you know what that means!  I am linking up with Lisa Jo Baker’s site to bring you my version of the Five Min. Friday writing exercise in which I write poetry in Five.  This week’s word is VIEW.  Setting my timer!   GO    Change Your View & Change Your Life:   Perspective is such an important thing- How we view the world around us, How we view others, How we view ourselves. I choose to live life with an inspired view (hence the theme/name of my website :)). One thing I have discovered about Life is that those who are happiest, don’t necessarily have it all (i.e. the perfect life). It’s an illusion and a false perspective to think that to be happy we must have … Continue Reading

Poetry in Five- Keep a Song Within Your Heart

I’m Back today with poetry in Five and linking up with my fellow writers at Lisa-Jo’s.   This week’s word of inspiration is SONG.   Before I set the timer for 5 min. to write my poem, I wanted to share with you a little tid bit about myself.     Songs and singing have been a part of who I am since I was very very little.  I can remember always having a little tune in my head as a child and singing in the car and singing at the playground at preschool.  In fact , I would get so lost in my little tunes that I didn’t care who heard back then haha.  When I was in preschool, I had these read a long books that came with … Continue Reading

Vintage Glamor Photos of Me & Some Other Fun Stuff from Mother’s Day

I hope you all had a fabulous Mother’s Day!  I am taking time away from my traditional , more professionally written articles of inspiration, to just casually talk to you about what’s going on.  I have been super busy the past week with some really cool things we did for Mother’s Day  (among other things), and so that is why there hasn’t been an article in the past week (and no FMF poem).   One thing you may (or may not) know about me, is that I LOVE to host theme parties.  Specifically themed TEA parties!  This all started about 4-5 years ago when I planned the first (very small) tea party as a surprise birthday gift for my Mom.  She , her good friend and I enjoyed it so … Continue Reading

Soft and Chewy Chocolate Drop Cookies Recipe

Chocolate Drop Cookie Recipe

Who wants chocolate?!  Remember my hilarious cookie gone wrong story a few months ago?  It was called “A Crumby Story” and it’s a humor post on my first attempt at making these cookies.  Check it out for a laugh at my expense if you haven’t seen it yet :D.  I am happy to say that this time I got the cookies right!  I discovered my issue was the use of butter and spelt flour..so um…DON’T use those unless you too want to wind up like a scene from I Love Lucy’s chocolate factory episode.     Back to the recipe! These are the perfect , quick and easy cookie to make when you are having one of those chocolate cravings and don’t want to go to a lot of fuss. … Continue Reading

A Different Definition of Brave – Poetry in Five

Linking up with my writing friends over at Lisa Jo’s for another FMF.  Today’s word is BRAVE and I am happy to report that I was able to write a poem for you this week in Five minutes (since the last few weeks I have gotten off of my usual writing style).  Today’s poem started out one way and pulled me in a different direction by the end.  It is so interesting to see what happens when you write straight through without stopping to think or back track!  If you have never tried freely writing in a time frame without over analyzing what’s coming out, it might be a fun experiment for you too.   On to today’s inspiration then!   Go   A Different Definition of Brave   I think … Continue Reading

The Cat That Came to Dinner

Over the years we have had all kinds of dinner guests, but lately there is this one guy who is quite hairy.   He started out as a party crasher at birthday dinners & other celebrations only (he knows how to work a crowd), and now he has decided to become a permanent fixture.  I can’t decide if he’s rude or polite- horning in on meals without an invitation.  That is the rude part.  But then again- he DOES sit there ever so quietly-acting all calm and patient.  Plus- he never says a word.  Who can argue with that? I decided it was fruitless to resist him since he is not a quitter anyways.  “So what if he is the hairiest guy I have ever eaten dinner with?”  I … Continue Reading
